There is an old cliche that says, “La Gonâve is the
island that Haiti forgot.” During this difficult period
in Haiti’s history, being forgotten by mainland Haiti
has been both a struggle and a blessing.
The world is gripped by the explosive situations in
Haiti, but across the bay on the island of La Gonâve,
work continues.
On March 11-13, the staff from the Bill Rice
Community Health Network traveled the length of
the island to provide a mobile clinic for the distant
community of Platon Balai.
