This summer, the United Nations World Food Program published a Request for Proposal to administer regional School Lunch (Canteen) Programs in Haiti. World Vision was awarded administrator of the grant for La Gonâve. We have hope that the Parish school system could receive bulk foodstuffs adequate to serve 1300 PreK- Grade 9 students, equivalent to 50% of the students enrolled for 2025-26! The grant will distribute rice, beans, and oil from the mainland. Island school administrators will attend a meeting on October 14 to learn details. Public and private schools are included. LGHP currently wires $65,000 each school year for a lunch program in all 11 Parish schools.
